The Los Angeles Chargers improved to 7-3 on the season during their Week 10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. One moment from that matchup made the Bolts particularly nervous, though.

Justin Herbert limps off field after potential hip drop tackle

In the team’s victory, Justin Herbert once again took some hard hits. One of the most impactful wasn’t necessarily a hard hit, but it was a tackle that the league has tried to push out of the game recently. It looked like it could have been a hip-drop tackle by the Steelers player who was only trying to bring him down for a loss.

Regardless, it remains to be seen if the NFL will have issue with the way Herbert was tackled. It was not penalized during the game, but we have seen recent fines due to hip-drop situations around the league.

Herbert was certainly a bit banged up after the play, and fans were enraged on social media, pushing the premise that it was purposeful by Pittsburgh. We truly will never know if that is the case, though.

It is worth noting that LA is not the only team to feel this wrath recently. Denver Broncos running back JK Dobbins was frustrated after Thursday Night Football regarding a possible hip drop tackle on him that could force him to miss time due to injury. Injury concerns are a legit worry with these sort of situations.

Los Angeles did better in this game at keeping their QB upright, but improvements can still be made. It will not be easy without Rashawn Slater or Joe Alt for the remainder of this season, though.
