The plot has thickened, everyone. Just to catch you up, the Detroit Lions played the Washington Commanders on Sunday, and during that game, there was a little bit of a thing that went down when Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne punched Lions receiver Am0n-Ra St. Brown in the face.

Payne was ejected from the game and then suspended for one week. His teammate, Javon Kinlaw, suggested after the game that it was St. Brown who threw the first punch. There was no proof of that until now.

So, it turns out that St. Brown did, in fact, make first contact with Payne. That’s not a great look for St. Brown and the Lions. What’s interesting is that this did not seem to change Payne’s appeal. It was quickly shut down, and the suspension was upheld.

What does it mean for the Lions? At this point, it might be nothing at all. The league has the video, and they chose to do nothing with it. It could be a fine for St. Brown if anything. Plus, if we’re being real here, this isn’t much of a punch. It’s more of a push upside the head, which you see like 20 times a week. We’ll see what happens on Saturday when fines come out. But I don’t know if I’d be concerned at all with a possible suspension here.
