Injuries are one of the few things that define the 2025 Florida Gators.

From the start of spring practice, the Gators have been dealing with injuries to their best players. Throughout the entirety of the last eight months, quarterback DJ Lagway has been the center of their injury issues. He doesn’t look healthy when you watch the Gators play football, and the talent around him on offense is dwindling, with wide receivers Dallas Wilson and Tre Wilson ruled out for the season.

It’s not better on the defensive side of the football either, but defensive coordinator Ron Roberts got some good news for his defense on Wednesday.

Caleb Banks sees improvement on injury report

Wednesday’s injury report came out, and the Gators saw an improvement from defensive tackle Caleb Banks. After being listed as out since he injured his foot in the 20-10 loss to the LSU Tigers, Banks was listed as doubtful.

Getting Banks back would be huge for the Gators’ defense. Michai Boireau has been really good as a sophomore, but the middle of the defense could use a boost to maximize George Gumbs Jr. and Tyreak Sapp. Initially, the thought was that Banks would likely miss the rest of the season, especially with how poor things started, but it appears that he’s ready and wants to return.

Getting Banks back should bolster the Gators enough to potentially steal a win or two over the next three games, including an outside chance to become bowl eligible. The other good piece of news is running back Treyaun Webb is set to make his season return, as he’s missed the first nine games of the season.
