Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall has done a great job when it comes to recruiting. There are 22 commitments with the class of 2027, and momentum is building with the No. 5 overall class.

Even with that energy surrounding the next recruiting class, the Gators had a visit cancelled on them, as four-star wide receiver Amare Patterson won’t be visiting Gainesville.

Amare Patterson cancels Florida Gators visit

It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that a wide receiver has cancelled a visit. Currently, the Gators have three wide receiver commitments in Tramond Collins, Anthony Jennings, and Elias Pearl, and they are heavily pursuing multiple five-star recruits in Texas Longhorns commit Easton Royal and Eric McFarland.

It’s not a simple decision for a recruit to cancel a visit. It could be a multitude of different things, with the most likely situation being the Gators have diverted there interest toward Royal and McFarland. Patterson visiting the South Carolina Gamecocks makes sense on many levels.

With the idea that the Gators are focusing on Royal and McFarland, the question remains whether or not they can land one of them. They will be working hard to flip Royal and land McFarland, who commits on June 28th. They are both big priorities, and landing one of them will do a lot for the class.

Here is the list of the Gators’ 22 commitments.
