Florida Gators continue insanely hot recruiting streak with fourth commitment in the last 72 hours
Head coach Jon Sumrall has been on a legendary heater for the Florida Gators in recruiting, this time with a running back.
Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall has been on a massive heater in recruiting. Earlier this week, he landed three recruits in a 24-hour period.
- Four-star offensive tackle Elijah Hutcheson
- Four-star safety Kailib Dillard
- Three-star defensive lineman Stive-Bentley Keumajou Yondui
It’s an impressive run for Sumrall, and it got better on Friday afternoon in landing four-star running back Andrew Beard.
Florida Gators land four-star RB Andrew Beard
Going into his commitment, Beard was deciding between the Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers, and Clemson Tigers. While they were all in his final four, Clemson was the biggest competition with the Gators for Beard.
Even so, including the fact that Beard’s uncle played for the Bulldogs, the Gators were able to land Beard. He had an 87.9% chance to land in Gainesville per the Rivals’ Recruiting Prediction Machine, with three expert predictions from Rivals.
His commitment does come before his three scheduled official visits, including the Gators on June 4th. The 5-9, 195-pound running back is the No. 9 player at his position and the 165th overall recruit in the nation per the Rivals Industry Ranking. He displays good patience in the backfield and has good long speed to take runs to the house.
Where some intrigue lies is with Beard in the receiving game. Prince Avenue Christian High School in Georgia used him as a receiver, and he showcases plus route-running and ball-tracking skills.
Sumrall now has 14 recruits committed to the Gators, and Beard is the ninth on offense.
