In Week 11, the Seahawks had a chance to take control of the NFC West and boost their chances for the top seed in the NFC. Instead, they suffered their third loss of the year and their first divisional loss to the Los Angeles Rams, 21-19. Many coined this the game of the week, and it certainly delivered.

It came down to a final-second field goal where Seahawks kicker Jason Myers attempted a 61-yard field goal for the win, but unfortunately pushed it wide right. The Seahawks are now 7-3 on the year and no longer control their own destiny to win the NFC West and host a playoff game.

NFC Playoff Picture after Week 11

  1. Philadelphia Eagles 8-2
  2. Los Angeles Rams 8-2
  3. Chicago Bears 7-3
  4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6-4
  5. Seattle Seahawks 7-3
  6. Green Bay Packers 6-3-1
  7. San Francisco 49ers 7-4

Seahawks fall to second in the NFC West and fifth in the NFC

This loss for the Seahawks causes quite a tumble down the NFC playoff picture. They fell from the two-seed and leaders in the NFC West to the five-seed in the conference. If the season ended today, the team would start the playoffs on the road against the Buccaneers. It was a very poor time for Sam Darnold to have his worst performance as a Seahawk, with four interceptions vs. the Rams.

The Seahawks will get another crack at the Rams in Week 16 when they host Matthew Stafford and company for a rematch on Thursday Night Football. If they pull out the win in that outing, splitting the season series with a very talented Rams team is far from the end of the world. That doesn’t take away the sting of losing a game today, which the Seahawks probably feel like they let slip out of their fingertips.

The Seahawks will get the chance to bounce back in Week 12 with a matchup with the 1-9 Tennessee Titans. Getting back in the win column will be the top priority, but seeing Darnold bounce back would be a big win for Seattle. While they may have lost the ability to control their own destiny ultimately, there is still a lot of football left to be played. This loss may hurt right now, but it is in no way time to panic about a Seahawks team that is 7-3 through ten games.
