The Ohio State Buckeyes are sitting comfortably at 10-0 on the season after a 48-10 win over the UCLA Bruins. As the No. 1 team in the College Football Playoff rankings, Ohio State hasn’t left much to debate regarding where they deserve to be.

A 14-7 win over the Texas Longhorns has been the only real test the Buckeyes have faced this season, and even in that game they didn’t open up the offense much. Everything Ohio State wants to accomplish is still in front of them, beginning with the showdown against the Michigan Wolverines in two weeks. After that, the Buckeyes hope to repeat and go all the way again.

ESPN predicts Ohio State to return to the National Championship

In ESPN’s latest model, the Buckeyes are projected to return to the College Football Playoff as the No. 1 seed and advance all the way to the title game, where they have them facing the Indiana Hoosiers. If that happens, Ohio State would likely have to play Indiana twice — once in the Big Ten Championship Game and again in the National Championship — assuming both teams stay on track. Here is how ESPN outlines Ohio State’s path:

ESPN projects the Buckeyes to open the College Football Playoff against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the quarterfinal round. From there, Ohio State would face a major SEC test in the Georgia Bulldogs. After a projected win over Georgia, the Buckeyes would then take on Texas A&M — an exciting matchup many college football fans want to see. It would feature Julian Sayin against Marcell Reed in a high-profile quarterback duel. Then, the big game against Indiana to win it all would be there for the taking.

Ohio State continues to take things one game at a time, as they should. The environment Ryan Day has built has the Buckeyes treating Rutgers as seriously as any other opponent. Ohio State travels to face the Scarlet Knights on Saturday for their second-to-last regular-season game. After that comes the big one —the opportunity to end the streak against Michigan.
