The Ohio State Buckeyes couldn’t be sitting in a better spot at 10-0, coming off a dominant win over the UCLA Bruins.

Ohio State was without WR Carnell Tate for a second straight game, and WR Jeremiah Smith played only about a quarter. Even so, the Buckeyes rolled to a 48-10 victory and continued to show why they’re the top team in college football. Ever since the Buckeyes knocked off the Texas Longhorns to begin the season, it has been pure dominance.

Ohio State remains No. 1 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings

The Buckeyes remain No. 1 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings and still hold a first-round bye that comes with the top ranking. Ohio State can keep that bye by winning out, which would likely include a matchup with No. 2 Indiana. Based on where the Buckeyes stand, they would play the winner of the No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners and No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the semifinals. The full bracket can be seen below.

Ohio State hosted a first-round game last year after the regular-season loss to the Michigan Wolverines knocked them out of Big Ten Championship contention. This year, the Buckeyes will need to take care of business against Michigan in two weeks to secure that first-round bye. Beating Michigan is something Ryan Day and the Buckeyes haven’t done in their last four tries. Last year’s loss sparked the greatest postseason run in Ohio State history, but it shouldn’t come down to that again.

The Buckeyes continue to take each game one week at a time, and if they stay on that course, they’ll remain at the top of the final CFP rankings. There’s no shying away from the difficult path that it would take to win it all, but Ohio State appears to be in good shape for that challenge, which is getting closer and closer.
