Minnesota Vikings first injury report involves multiple offensive lineman, and it could spell disaster vs. Seattle Seahawks
All eyes will be on the health of J.J. McCarthy, who is currently in the concussion protocol.
After starting the season with a 4-7 record, the Minnesota Vikings are primed to take on the Seattle Seahawks with their playoff lives in the balance.
The focus of this game will be on quarterback Sam Darnold, as he faces the Vikings for the first time since the two sides parted ways this past offseason. With J.J. McCarthy likely out for the game due to a concussion, things could get really interesting, especially from a narrative standpoint.
Before we get to Sunday, we have the first injury report. The Vikings have some serious holes in the trenches that need addressing.
Minnesota Vikings Wednesday injury report
| Player | Injury | W/T/F | Designation |
| LT Christian Darrisaw | Knee/Foot | DNP | |
| LG Donovan Jackson | Ankle | DNP | |
| EDGE Jonathan Greenard | Shoulder | Limited | |
| S Theo Jackson | Neck | Limited | |
| WR Justin Jefferson | Not Injury Related-Rest | Limited | |
| S Harrison Smith | Not Injury Related-Rest | Limited | |
| QB J.J. McCarthy | Concussion | Limited | |
| S Josh Metellus | Knee/Shoulder | Limited | |
| EDGE Dallas Turner | Hip | Limited |
Observations
- No Darrisaw or Jackson is concerning, but it doesn’t mean everything. They both left Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers with their injuries.
- Greenard being limited makes sense after missing the last two games of the season. Hopefully, he takes a step forward, especially with Dallas Turner now on the report.
- Both Jefferson and Smith got veteran rest days, which isn’t a big deal.
- McCarthy being limited just two days after entering concussion protocol is a good sign for the Vikings. Will that mean he ends up playing? Probably not, but it’s a good thing nonetheless.
Seattle Seahawks Wednesday injury report
| Player | Injury | W/T/F | Designation |
| RB George Holani | Hamstring | DNP | |
| EDGE Uchenna Nwosu | Ankle | DNP | |
| S Ty Okada | Oblique | DNP | |
| WR Cooper Kupp | Not Injury Related-Rest | Limited | |
| EDGE Demarcus Lawrence | Not Injury Related-Rest | Limited | |
| DE Rylie Mills | Knee | Limited | |
| DE Mike Morris | Knee | Limited | |
| WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba | Not Injury Related-Rest | Limited | |
| RB Kenneth Walker | Glute | Limited | |
| DE Leonard Williams | Not Injury Related-Rest | Limited | |
| OG Grey Zabel | Knee | Limited | |
| ILB Ernest Jones | Knee | Full | |
| WR Cody White | Abdomen | Full |
Observations
- The Seahawks are doing a good job of taking care of their veteran players, with four getting rest ahead of Sunday’s game.
- Zabel is a name to watch. He was a popular name among Vikings fans in the NFL Draft, but the Seahawks sniped him at 18th overall. He left the game against the Los Angeles Rams, but did return last week against the Tennessee Titans.
