The wheels might be starting to fall off the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2025 season. Sunday marked the sixth loss of the year for Pittsburgh, but none were as bad as the game vs. Buffalo. The offensive issues persisted, the defense continued to struggle by allowing nearly 250 yards on the ground, and multiple starters were injured.

The Steelers’ offense resembled a group of players that had never played together. It looked like day one of spring ball at your local high school. And when you hear what Rodgers said about the week of practice before the Bills game, that adds up, and it points to an even greater concern.

Aaron Rodgers says the Steelers had bad week of practice, calls out teammates for missing meetings

“I thought we had a better preparation week and a poor practice week for whatever reason. I’m not sure if it was a cold weather, what it was, but it wasn’t our best week of practice,” said Rodgers after the Bills loss via the Steelers’ YouTube channel.

“That doesn’t always translate to a negative performance. There’s been great practice weeks and bad performances and poor practice weeks, and great performances over the 21 years of my career. But it wasn’t the best practice week. So we gotta practice in the elements better and the execution, again, just wasn’t where it was.”

I’m not sure how you can get to week 13 of the season and have bad practices as paid professionals whose sole job comes down to preparing Wednesday through Friday to make sure the product on the field is at its best on Sundays.

But that may not be a priority for some on the Steelers roster when hearing what Rodgers said about chemistry issues.

“When there is film sessions, everybody shows up. And when I check to a route, you do the right route,” added Rodgers when asked how the team can build chemistry this late in the season. “Jonnu [Smith] and I just weren’t on the same page. I checked to an in-breaker, and he ran out-breaker. We have other opportunities outside of the facility, and look forward to seeing all the boys there.”

I mean, that’s as damning a set of comments that you can hear from a quarterback. To say that the team not only isn’t practicing well, but also insinuates that players are skipping meetings… It feels like the children are running the school in Pittsburgh right now. It feels like the leadership at the top is failing, and the once-proud Steelers culture is crumbling.
