The Tennessee Vols are among the top schools for an elite 2028 five-star quarterback.
The Tennessee Vols are one of the top schools for one of the best 2028 quarterback recruits in the nation.
2028 five-star quarterback Neimann Lawrence told On3 that Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M are the teams currently “standing out” in his recruitment.
Lawrence, 6-foot-1/202 lbs from Miami, FL, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 3 quarterback in the nation and the No. 8 player in the state of Florida. He’s also rated as the No. 28 overall player in the 2028 recruiting class.
The five-star quarterback attended a Tennessee camp in June.
Lawrence didn’t go in depth on his top schools with On3, simply noting that he hopes to take more visits in the spring.
The Athletic suggested in May that Lawrence could be “the next big thing” in recruiting.
“There’s not a lot of guys here in this state that are going to be like him,” said Larry Blustein, a longtime Florida recruiting analyst, to The Athletic of Lawrence. “But here’s the truth: There’s not a lot of kids like him in California and Texas either. He’s just a dude.”
Lawrence isn’t expected to commit to a school until the summer before his senior year, so there’s at least another 18 months to go in this recruiting battle before a decision will be made.
