The state of Oklahoma isn’t playing around when it comes to the playoff game against Alabama, and OU followed the trend
The Oklahoma Sooners should have all eyes on them with school out on Friday.
You know it’s been a tough road to the College Football Playoff when several public high schools in your area, and the Oklahoma Sooners themselves, are cancelling class for the playoff game on Friday, December 19. The entire state is fired up for this game against the Alabama Crimson Tide, and now all eyes are on them.
Oklahoma schools are cancelling school for the Sooners
That week, Oklahoma is having finals week for students across the campus. However, the school decided to shut down classes on Friday so that everyone could focus and watch the game. The Sooners are hosting a CFP game against Alabama, in which they have a great chance at moving on.
Oklahoma has already beaten Alabama, and they did it on the road in Tuscaloosa. This game is at home in Norman, Oklahoma, where the Sooners have the advantage of being much healthier. That doesn’t mean they will win, though. It helps that the whole state, and certainly the entire area, will be out of school to cheer them on.
They take football seriously at Oklahoma. Missing a College Football Playoff game isn’t really an option. This fan base does not play around.
“Sooner Nation is gonna be ready, Rece. You don’t gotta worry about them,” Venables told Rece Davis on ESPN.
They’ll show up and show out, with no excuses now. And that’s one of the biggest reasons it was so important to get the home game. Oklahoma made its money this season being the road dogs. But, it’s clear not many, if any, really want to play Oklahoma at home.
Some may think this would be an easy one, but they don’t really believe that. It’s impossible to think that when you watch this defense play.
“I know a lot of teams were hoping to play Oklahoma. Our team believes we have everything we need to [win a championship],” Venables said on a Zoom call with the media after the CFP rankings were announced. “It’s going to be electric.”
