Chiefs clearly on Santa’s naughty list after most recent injury report for Week 17 Christmas Day game vs. Broncos
The Kansas City Chiefs’ injury report hasn’t shown many signs of improvement in recent weeks.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos have released their second injury reports for Week 17
The Chiefs and Broncos’ first injury reports of the week were based on estimates had they actually held a practice, which is typical for a short practice week. The second injury report for Kansas City reflected a full practice with helmets and the like as they prepare to host a Broncos team with everything left to play for, coming off a disappointing Week 16 loss. Can Kansas City play spoiler to a division rival and spread some Christmas cheer?
Here’s a quick breakdown of the second injury reports for each team in Week 17.
Chiefs’ Tuesday injury report for Week 17
| Player | Injury | Mon./Tues./Weds. |
|---|---|---|
| WR Rashee Rice | Concussion | DNP/DNP |
| CB Trent McDuffie | Knee | DNP/DNP |
| WR Tyquan Thornton | Concussion | DNP/DNP |
| WR Nikko Remigio | Knee | FP/DNP |
| CB Jaylen Watson | Groin | DNP/DNP |
| OT Jaylon Moore | Knee | LP/FP |
| RG Trey Smith | Ankle | FP/FP |
| TE Jake Briningstool (IR) | Hamstring | FP/FP |
| TE Noah Gray | Shoulder | FP/FP |
| S Mike Edwards | Shoulder | FP/FP |
| CB Kristian Fulton | Knee/Wrist | FP/FP |
| CB Nazeeh Johnson (IR) | Shoulder | FP/FP |
| DT Derrick Nnadi | Illness | LP/LP |
| OT Esa Pole | Knee | FP/FP |
Observations
- The Chiefs remain about as beat up as a team could be heading into the final two weeks of the season, with a dozen players on the 53-man roster on the injury report, including five sitting out of practice. The only saving grace is that OT Jaylon Moore might be able to make a return from injury, which could help the O-Line against a vaunted Denver pass rush.
- It’s hard not to wonder if Jaylen Watson has played his last game with the Chiefs. The pending 2026 free agent has no real reason to suit up again if he’s anything less than 100% healthy. Steve Spagnuolo made it sound as if he wouldn’t be playing in Week 17.
- WRs Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton remain in the concussion protocol. It seems unlikely that either player will clear it and be able to play in Week 17.
Broncos’ Tuesday injury report for Week 17
| Player | Injury | Mon./Tues./Weds. |
|---|---|---|
| CB Riley Moss | Ankle | FP/FP |
| G Ben Powers | Biceps | FP/FP |
| LB Karene Reid | Hamstring | FP/FP |
| LB Justin Strnad | Foot | FP/FP |
| TE Nate Adkins | Knee | DNP/DNP |
| WR Pat Bryant | Concussion | DNP/DNP |
| LB Dre Greenlaw | Hamstring | DNP/DNP |
| C Luke Wattenberg | Shoulder | DNP/DNP |
Observations
- I’d be surprised if any of the Broncos’ non-participants could suit up and play at this point. They’ll have a walkthrough on Wednesday ahead of travel to Kansas City for the game on Christmas.
