On Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, the Seahawks’ offense started terribly. A game that was tied 3-3 at the half ended up in Seattle’s favor, though, 27-10. This win wasn’t pretty, but in the second half, they rallied, scoring on four straight drives. The run game didn’t start well with Kenneth Walker, so they went with what did work – Zach Charbonnet.

Walker had 15 carries for 51 yards, which is just 3.4 yards per carry. That’s not terrible. However, when they saw what Charbonnet was doing – opening up the passing game with his chunk yard plays, they had to keep feeding the hot hand. Charbonnet finished with 110 rushing yards on 18 carries, good enough for 6.1 yards per carry. He also had two rushing touchdowns.

In a way, this was a career day for Charbonnet, and it showed that the Seahawks don’t really have any problems presented to them during a game that they can’t fix. When the offense started slowly with Walker, they had a problem-solver in Charbonnet.

Charbonnet had a career day in Carolina

Charbonnet had his second career 100-yard rushing game on Sunday, which is admittedly hard to believe. His previous one was against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 14 of the 2024 season.

Not only that, but Charbonnet is now tenth on the Seahawks’ all-time rushing touchdowns list. Charbonnet passed David Sims and Derrick Fenner with his 20th rushing touchdown. Walker is actually fifth all-time with 29, which is funny considering Charbonnet has more TDs this season, but fewer rushing yards.

The Seahawks have their two guys. When one isn’t working, and the offense seems to be encountering a problem with the run game, the other one usually is. Games like this one are why the Seattle Seahawks are a legit Super Bowl contender.
