The Oklahoma Sooners have already gotten a head start on the transfer portal, setting up several key visits during the first weekend the portal is officially open.

However, one prime target just became available, and the Sooners were quick to pounce, locking him in for a visit. This target was a key playmaker for the Texas Longhorns this season, adding more fuel to the fire between the rivals.

Oklahoma Sooners Adding Texas Portal WR to visitors

According to multiple Longhorns writers, Parker Livingstone, one of Texas’s leading wide receivers this past season, was pushed out by the Longhorns so they could free up money to pursue “bigger names” in the transfer portal. That’s a bold strategy, especially considering Livingstone was a Longhorn through and through, who was very close to Arch Manning, as the two were roommates.

The last paragraph of Livingstone’s statement is something I’ll admit I haven’t seen too often. “Never in a million years did I think I would be going into the portal looking for a new home. Some things are out of my control. Such is the reality of the ever-changing landscape of college football.” This isn’t a player who wanted to leave the Longhorns.

As such, if I were Oklahoma, this would be a prime opportunity to sell the Sooners as a spot for some sweet revenge. Livingstone bled burnt orange, but we’ve seen players like Baker Mayfield and Brenen Thompson who felt disrespected by the Longhorns and opted to join the Sooners in the past.

He would be a fantastic addition to the wide receiver room and would give them something they don’t really have in the room. The 6-4 perimeter threat has showcased terrific hands and vertical speed to threaten defenses down the field, along with his huge frame.

The Sooners have speed in Isaiah Sategna, but they don’t have a proven full package of height/weight/speed in the room there. Additionally, Livingstone would bring some much-needed size and blocking ability to their receiving corps, something that was a frequent problem for the run game and in the red zone.

SoonerScoop has confirmed the report that Livingstone will visit this weekend after visiting Indiana. It will be tough to beat out the Hoosiers right now, but perhaps a closer proximity to home and an opportunity to play the Longhorns again would be enough to sweeten the deal.
