This last offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs took a flier on cornerback Kristian Fulton, who was a former second-round pick. Fulton, the former LSU Tigers cornerback, was drafted by the Tennessee Titans and played for the Los Angeles Chargers before joining KC. The Chiefs hoped they could tap into some of that potential after Fulton had dealt with injuries all his career.

The start of the season was bad for Fulton, and he was even getting some hate. Fans were upset that Fulton, who didn’t look good at all to start the year, was getting valuable reps over rookie cornerback Nohl Williams. In the last game against the Denver Broncos on Christmas Day, Fulton played great.

LB Nick Bolton talks Kristian Fulton’s game vs. Denver

“Yeah, he came in. Man, he played hard,” Bolton told reporters on Wednesday. “I think he had a pretty good game, honestly. He had a couple of PBUs, broke up a couple of completions, broke up a touchdown pass that we needed from him and B Cook [Bryan Cook].

“So they played great man, played with great energy, great effort, and obviously having veteran guys and playing a lot of ball, just going to go out there and just let it loose and cut loose, man, I think they played a great game for us.”

On Sunday against the Broncos, Fulton only allowed one catch after being targeted five times. That catch went for 23 yards, but that type of catch percentage is great. Fulton had his highest-graded game by Pro Football Focus this year, with a 71.7.

Fulton is fighting to stay on this team. He’s on a two-year contract; however, if KC wanted to cut him after this season to save some money, they would. According to Over the Cap, cutting him in 2026 will save $5 million.

Fulton has one more game to show what he can really be when he’s healthy. As Andy Reid said after the loss to Denver, he was fully healthy, really, for the first time. So, let’s see what he does against the Las Vegas Raiders.
