The Tennessee Vols opened SEC play with a tough road loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Tennessee fell 86-75 to Arkansas on Saturday in Fayetteville.

The Vols, which dropped to 10-4 on the season with the loss, were led in scoring by freshman guard Amari Evans with 16 points.

Arkansas head coach John Calipari says Tennessee isn’t losing many games the rest of the way

The Razorbacks may have earned the win against Tennessee, but Razorbacks head coach John Calipari isn’t eager to play the Vols again this season.

“Let me say this, with Tennessee, they are really good,” said Calipari after the game. “They ain’t losing many — just so you know. And you know what I’m so happy about? We don’t have to play them again, [but] if we play them again, it’s going to be in the conference tournament. We’re done with them. Let other people deal with that. Physically inside, the way they rebound, their guard play — they’re really good.”

The Vols still seem to be finding their groove this season, which has led to some uneven performances. But this Tennessee team is capable of beating any team in the nation when it’s at its best. We saw that in the Vols’ win over Houston earlier this season.

The next two months for the Vols need to be about finding their rhythm. If Tennessee peaks in March/April, the Vols may be poised for their deepest tourney run yet under head coach Rick Barnes.
