‘We’ll see if that comes to fruition’ – Vols insider gives the latest on EDGE transfer Chaz Coleman after his visit to Tennessee
The Tennessee Vols are hoping to land Penn State EDGE transfer Chaz Coleman.
The Tennessee Vols are hoping to land a commitment from Penn State Nittany Lions EDGE transfer Chaz Coleman.
The LSU Tigers and the Ohio State Buckeyes are also hoping to land the coveted EDGE.
Coleman, who has three seasons of eligibility remaining, visited LSU this past weekend before making the trip to Knoxville. The former four-star recruit left Tennessee on Tuesday for his visit to Ohio State.
The Buckeyes are likely the biggest threat to the Vols in this battle.
“Ohio State is expecting Coleman on campus at some point on Tuesday, sources tell On3,” reported On3’s Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong on Monday. “The Buckeyes are willing to do what it takes to land the top pass rusher.”
Vols insider shares the latest on Chaz Coleman after his visit to Tennessee
VolQuest’s Austin Price joined 104.5 The Zone’s Ramon and Will on Tuesday for his weekly appearance and he discussed the latest with Coleman.
“I think Tennessee is in it,” said Price when asked about Coleman. “He’s going to go to Ohio State (for a visit). Again, when kids leave your campus (after a visit), the chances of getting them, to me, dwindle. It doesn’t mean that they can’t. They absolutely can still pick Tennessee — or any school that they leave (after a visit) — but you just run the risk of something happening at the next stop along the way.
“And so he’ll go to Ohio State (for a visit) — that’s his home state school. That’s where everybody’s had him pegged for this entire time. You talk to a few people around him and they’re not as locked in on that notion as others are. But again, there’s a reason that people at Penn State said that it’s been thought that he was going to go [to Ohio State] since the month of November. We’ll see if that comes to fruition.”
Coleman, who was nicknamed the “Chazmanian Devil” by new Vols defensive coordinator Jim Knowles at Penn State, shared more insight on his visit with Price at VolQuest.
The fact that Tennessee wasn’t able to lock Coleman down before he left Rocky Top probably doesn’t bode well for the Vols’ chances of winning this battle. But the transfer portal is unpredictable, so the Vols will remain in the mix until Coleman makes a final decision.
