The Cleveland Browns are in search of their next head coach to replace Kevin Stefanski after six seasons.

Cleveland has already interviewed several candidates, including their coordinators, Tommy Rees and Jim Schwartz. The Browns have a major question at quarterback, their biggest one on the roster. Cleveland’s next head coach will have his work cut out with how that position is handled.

The Browns are leaning toward making an offensive hire at head coach

Cleveland has Schwartz under contract as its defensive coordinator for the 2026 season, and that’s a part of this coaching search. If the Browns were to bring in a defensive-minded coach who wants to run his system, it’s possible Schwartz wants no part of that.

Jay Glazer reported that Schwartz’s plan is to stay in place, likely indicating an offensive-minded coach is coming in.

“Candidates are being told they want to keep Jim Schwartz in there as the defensive coordinator,” Glazer said.

Offensive coaches the Browns are interested in

Cleveland has interviewed its offensive coordinator, Rees, along with Ravens OC Todd Monken, Bengals OC Dan Pitcher, and former Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel to be the next head coach. That’s just the start to Cleveland’s coaching search, and more names are expected to come about.

The Browns brought in an offensive mind with Stefanski, and he took them to the playoffs twice for the first time in a couple of decades. It looks as if Cleveland is looking for a current offensive coordinator to lead their team once again.
