Tennessee Vols fans received some expected transfer portal news on Wednesday.

According to On3, Vols true freshman tight end Jack Van Dorselaer is entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Van Dorselaer is a former four-star recruit from Southlake, TX. He was rated by 247Sports as the No. 17 athlete in the nation and the No. 47 player in the state of Texas during the 2025 recruiting cycle.

There were rumblings throughout the week (first noted by VolQuest’s Austin Price), that Van Dorselaer may enter the portal, so the news on Wednesday doesn’t come as a surprise.

Van Dorselaer caught five passes for 23 yards and a touchdown during his lone season at Tennessee.

Tennessee is receiving a visit from a Georgia transfer tight end

Van Dorselaer’s entry into the transfer portal explains why Tennessee is receiving a visit this week from Georgia Bulldogs transfer tight end Pearce Spurlin.

Spurlin is a former four-star recruit who underwent open-heart surgery in August. The Florida native was cleared to return to action after undergoing surgery, but he’s not eligible to return to Georgia. He caught three passes for 60 yards as a true freshman in 2023.

Rising senior Ethan Davis and rising sophomore DaSaahn Brame are set to serve as the Vols’ top two tight ends in 2026.
