While the transfer portal may be closed for entries, there are still players out there looking for their next home in college football.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have made 16 additions and lost 31 players from the program. There haven’t been any major losses for Ohio State, mostly depth from the back end of the roster.

Ohio State clearly isn’t done retooling its depth either.

Ohio State to host key offensive line visitor this week

According to 247Sports’ Chris Hummer, Ohio State will host Dartmouth OL Vesean Washington for a visit on Jan. 23. Washington has experience as both a guard and tackle — and he’s given up just one sack in over 700 career snaps.

Washington is a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman with one year of eligibility left. The offensive lineman was a three-star prospect coming out of high school in Springfield, Ohio. Washington was a starter for the past two seasons with Dartmouth.

Ohio State brings back the entirety of its offensive line in 2026 outside of RG Tegra Tshabola. Tshabola wouldn’t have been starting in Columbus in 2026 if he’d stayed. Ohio State has options when it comes to that right guard spot and Washington could be one of them.

Gabe VanSickle and Joshua Padilla both saw time at the position during the season. Austin Siereveld could potentially move to right guard if the Buckeyes find an answer that is suitable to protect Julian Sayin’s blindside at left tackle.

Ohio State didn’t bring in any offensive linemen from the transfer portal and offensive line coach Tyler Bowen is going lean heavily on a veteran group in 2026. Sayin was protected well all year until the final two games against Indiana and Miami.

If the Buckeyes want to reach their goals in 2026, the offensive line can’t fail down the stretch run of the season. Competition brings out the best, and the Buckeyes are trying to bring more of it to that unit.
