Buffalo Bills get troubling injury update on key starter that completely reframes his 2025 season after shocking admission
Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid is a warrior.
The Buffalo Bills battled through their fair share of injuries throughout the 2025 season. From defensive end Michael Hoecht suffering a season-ending Achilles injury to defensive tackle Ed Oliver tearing his biceps, those are just a few names that Buffalo has lost throughout the year.
What’s more, the team was without three of its wide receivers for the divisional round against the Denver Broncos because of season-ending injuries to Josh Palmer, Gabe Davis, and Tyrell Shavers; the list goes on and on for a season that was plagued by issues.
Just because the season is over doesn’t mean the injury news has stopped coming at One Bills Drive, though, and the latest update is yet another example of just how beaten up Buffalo was. While speaking on the “Monday Mornings with Mitch” podcast, tight end Dawson Knox opened up about his counterpart, Dalton Kincaid.
Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid played through a serious injury
According to Knox, Kincaid played on a torn PCL. Ryan Talbot from Syracuse.com reported that a source close to Kincaid confirmed what Knox had said on the show. He played the entire 2025 season with a torn PCL. What a warrior of an athlete, but yet another troubling sign for a player who also struggled to get on the field.
This was something Kincaid had already been dealing with, suffering the injury in Week 10 of the 2024 season. In 2024, he missed three games with a grade 2 PCL sprain that has been lingering even into the 2025 season. It has limited his production and ultimately prevented him from being one of the most elite tight ends in the NFL.
Throughout the 2025 campaign, he missed four games due to injury. One with an abdominal muscle sprain that kept him out of the Week 6 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Then, in November, he got injured in the third quarter against the Miami Dolphins and missed three games with a thigh hamstring/sprain.
Despite playing with a torn PCL, Kincaid was electric when he was on the football field and one of the most reliable weapons for quarterback Josh Allen. Allen had the highest passer rating in the league among tight ends when targeting Kincaid this season (149.2). Kincaid finished the season with 39 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns and a career high 14.6 yards per reception.
When you take everything into account, it puts Kincaid’s season into a much different perspective. Playing through a real knee injury while bouncing in and out of the lineup is remarkable and speaks volumes about Kincaid’s toughness and commitment to the team.
At the same time, it raises real questions about how Buffalo manages his health moving forward. If the Bills can get a fully healthy Kincaid for an entire season, the numbers we saw in flashes in 2025 might only be scratching the surface of what he can become in the offense.
