Pros of Trinidad Chambliss
- Creative athlete who excels as an extender in the passing game; as well as a running threat as both a scrambler or in the designed run game
- More juice in his arm than some will give him credit for; showed the ability to hit some tighter window throws to the middle of the field
- Throws with conviction consistently with complete trust in his arm; rarely hesitates to threaten the middle of the field
- Showed consistent growth throughout the 2025 college football season; reason to think a developmental jump is still in front of him
- Shows the ability to change arm speeds and layer throws to the intermediate-deep portions of the field; maintains a good level of accuracy when pushing the football down the field
Cons of Trinidad Chambliss
- Arm loses juice when working outside of the numbers; solid for NFL standards, but not plus
- Working in a Lane Kiffin offense keeps reads simplistic; will need to show more examples of working half and full field progressions
- His smaller stature does suggest there are some limitations in terms of future physical development
- Can be reckless with the football at times, especially when pushing vertically; having confidence in his weapons can hurt his decision-making
Background
After starring at Forest Hills Northern in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Chambliss began his career at D2 powerhouse Ferris State. After serving as a backup during his first three seasons, he took over as the starter during the 2024 season, helping the team win the National Championship. During that campaign, Chambliss was able to throw for 2,925 yards and 26 touchdowns, completing nearly 62 percent of his passes and throwing just six interceptions. Chambliss added another 1,019 yards and 25 touchdowns on the ground.
The talented passer opted to transfer to Ole Miss prior to the 2025 season. After initially serving as a backup to Austin Simmons, Chambliss took over as the starter during the third game against Arkansas. In 15 games played for the Rebels, he threw for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns on the team’s way toward a playoff run. Chambliss added another 527 yards and eight scores on the ground, while completing 66 percent of his passes and tossing his three interceptions.
Born on August 24, 2002, Chambliss will turn 24 years old right before the beginning of the 2026 NFL season. Chambliss and his camp are currently exploring options to be granted another year of eligibility by the NCAA. That keeps his NFL future and whether he will be a part of the 2026 NFL Draft class in question, for now at least.
Player Evaluation
After Chambliss ended up with the Ole Miss Rebels, nobody knew quite what to expect from him during his time in Oxford. Once Chambliss got the opportunity, it quickly became apparent that he was the best option for the team. As a passer, we saw steady growth from Chambliss throughout the 2025 college football season. He is an incredibly confident thrower of the football who has no issues working the middle of the field. There is some natural arm talent for Chambliss, showing the ability to calmly and confidently change arm speeds and layer throws to varying levels of the field. As Chambliss gains more and more experience, it’s reasonable to believe that his passing skills could take an even bigger jump.
As an athlete, Chambliss very much fits what the NFL prefers in today’s game. He has a lot of creativity both in the pocket and outside of structure. There are moments of brilliance throwing on the run, doing his best work as an extender in the passing game. As a runner, Chambliss’s athleticism gives him a get out of jail free card, having the ability to move the chains whenever he decides to tuck it and run. Chambliss has also been used in the quarterback run game, possessing a good combination of explosiveness and quickness.
The biggest negatives surrounding Chambliss’ game all come from his lack of size and physical stature. While his arm strength is good enough to make plays on the NFL level, it does lack high-level juice when pushing outside of the numbers. That lack of size also makes the want for a future physical jump highly unlikely. With the scarcity of quarterback options in the 2026 class (assuming he is a part of it), Chambliss has the dual threat talent to develop into a solid starter on the NFL level. At worst, there is a sound evaluation as a very good backup who could find a role for a long time.
