‘The Broncos can afford a big-time signing’ – PFF suggests that Denver pursue the NFL free agent that everyone wants to sign
The Denver Broncos will have some money to spend this offseason.
The Denver Broncos are expected to have enough salary cap space to make some significant moves this offseason.
It’s unclear exactly how much cap space the Broncos will have this offseason, but the general feeling is that it could be around $35 million to $45 million after restructures.
Denver should have enough flexibility with that amount of cap space to make some big moves this offseason if they choose.
PFF says the Broncos should pursue one of the top free agents this offseason
Pro Football Focus suggested on Wednesday that Denver should target free agent wide receiver George Pickens in free agency this offseason.
Pickens, a second round selection by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2022 NFL Draft, was traded to the Dallas Cowboys ahead of the 2025 season.
The former Georgia Bulldogs standout had the best season of his career in 2025, catching 93 passes for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns.
“The Broncos advanced to the AFC Championship Game on the heels of their elite defense, but their offense remains a bit of a worry going into 2026,” noted PFF’s Bradley Locker. “Denver will need to better a unit that ranked 25th in passing success rate, and a weapon like Pickens would enable exactly that. Pickens grew immensely in his first season in Dallas, playing to a career-best 87.2 PFF receiving grade with 2.35 yards per route run. Although the Broncos will return Courtland Sutton, the team finished 26th in collective receiving grade. Boasting $27 million in cap space before restructures, the Broncos can afford a big-time signing on offense — and there’s none better than Pickens at receiver.”
Denver was a fourth quarter blizzard away from reaching the Super Bowl this season. If the Broncos manage to sign Pickens, it would immediately make Denver the Super Bowl favorites going into 2026.
Signing Pickens, though, won’t be easy. The Cowboys have made it clear they want Pickens to return to Dallas. And plenty of other teams would also love to have Pickens on their roster. If a bidding war erupts, the Broncos may decide it’s best to take a more economical approach to improving their offense.
But if Denver can make the dollars make sense, then they should absolutely follow PFF’s advice and make a run at the Pro Bowl wide receiver.
