Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken wasted no time in getting his first important hire out of the way after landing the job
The Browns’ new assistant one will be key in turning things around.
On the same day that Todd Monken was named the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, the team also brought back a former assistant to coach under him.
Monken has already made a key hire for his staff in Cleveland, and the Browns’ new offensive line coach is no stranger to Northeast Ohio.
Todd Monken is already reaching into his Ravens connections to build his Browns’ coaching staff
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former Ravens and Browns offensive line coach George Warhop will be heading to Cleveland. Warhop precision served as the offensive line coach in Cleveland from 2009 to 2013 and will be a key part of Monken’s staff.
Warhop, 64, has a ton of offensive line experience and is known as one of the better trench coaches in the NFL. Warhop spent the last two seasons coaching the Ravens’ offensive line under Monken as the offensive coordinator there.
During his coaching career, Warhop has had stops with the Rams, Cardinals, Cowboys, 49ers, Buccaneers, Jaguars, and Texans, in addition to the Browns and Ravens as the offensive line coach. The five years that Warhop spent in Cleveland are the longest he’s stayed at one spot, which is notable here.
Warhop’s 29 years of coaching experience on the offensive line will be key for what is likely to be a very different-looking group up front for Cleveland in 2026. The Browns very well could have five new starters up front next season.
Overall, several Ravens coaches are expected to join Monken in Cleveland. With John Harbaugh being let go in Baltimore, plucking coaches isn’t as hard as it could be.
Warhop is just the first known addition to Monken’s staff and it’s a big one. One of the positives to bringing in Monken is his coaching connections between the college and NFL levels, and it’s already showing here.
