Jimmy Haslam may have taken a shot at former Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski during Todd Monken’s introductory press conference

The Browns owner made quite the statement on his expectations, and it may have included a shot at the Kevin Stefanski era.

The Cleveland Browns welcomed in the Todd Monken era on Tuesday with his introductory press conference as the new head coach.

Monken being introduced pushes the Kevin Stefanski era behind the Browns following their 5-12 2025 campaign. Tuesday’s press conference had some interesting moments, including Browns wonder Jimmy Haslam speaking.

Jimmy Haslam says Browns won’t be ugly in 2026

You, me, and even the Browns owner can see that the Browns were an ugly product in 2025. Haslam admitted as much on Tuesday and that’s a testament to the product put out by Stefanski this past season.

“Let’s be careful with a lot more, but do I expect we’ll win more games? I do and I think we’ll have a better football team,” Haslam stated

We’re not going to be ugly to watch. I actually take that seriously. We want to be a fun team to watch. A team that plays hard, plays smart and, most of all, wins.”

Winning is important most of all and the Browns have won just eight games over the past two seasons. Browns GM Andrew Berry pointed to players wanting to see more accountability after the season, and that part of team building will be key for Monken being able to turn things around.

The numbers back up Jimmy Haslam saying the Browns were ugly

Besides the 5-12 record for the Browns in 2025, how badly their offense struggled was the worst part. Cleveland scored just 16.4 points per game to go along with 282.4 yards per game of offense. Both of those starts ranked No. 31 in the NFL — and it gave an elite defense no chance to win.

Monken acknowledged that the defense was an attractive part of him taking the job. The hope in Cleveland is that the offensive mind can right the ship on that side of the ball, and that it leads to more wins.

Cleveland’s owner thinks more wins are coming and he made that clear.
