Jeff Hafley‘s offensive coaching staff just tacked on a notable addition.

The Miami Dolphins‘ offensive coaching staff will be led by former Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik; that is not a surprise. The Dolphins were supposed to have a second former offensive coordinator in their ranks when it was reported that former multi-time offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett was tabbed to be the quarterbacks coach. That lasted one week before the Arizona Cardinals, and Mike LaFleur plucked Hackett to be their offensive coordinator instead. Hafley’s found another former OC to serve on his staff — former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo is coming to Miami.

Dolphins reportedly tab former Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo to serve as passing game coordinator

The good news for the Dolphins is Patullo brings play-calling experience. The bad news for the Dolphins is that Patullo’s tenure as the offensive coordinator in Philadelphia this past season was maligned as it gets. How displeased were Eagles fans with the offense under his watch in 2025? They egged his house in November.

Patullo was a part of several successful offenses in the pass game coordinator role before getting the coordinator elevation in 2025; most notably in 2022 with Shane Steichen serving as the offensive coordinator. That Eagles team, with Jalen Hurts at the helm, finished ninth in passing yards, and 4th in net yards per attempt on the season before falling 38-35 to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

Before his time in Philadelphia, Patullo was a pass game specialist in Indianapolis in 2020, the Colts’ WR coach from 2018-2019, and the New York Jets’ quarterbacks coach from 2015-2016 for QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Patullo also brings South Florida ties back to Miami. He played his high school football at Western HS in Davie. He’d go on to play his college career at South Florida from 1999 to 2002 before transitioning into coaching as a graduate assistant with the Bulls.

The influence of the pass game coordinator role in this offense is a major unknown. How big of an influence will Bobby Slowik have in that element is impossible for us to forecast on the outside looking in. What is known is that Patullo comes to Miami with his stock as low as it’s been in a while. Per Mike Garafolo, the Eagles, who demoted Patullo this offseason, did intend to keep him but allowed him to explore alternative options. If the season was any indication, Eagles fans will not be missing him.

There are a few pieces of this coaching puzzle still left unknown. Primary among them is the team’s quarterbacks coach. Patullo has that role on his resume, but it won’t be the shoes he fills in Miami. Let’s see who else Hafley has on the rolodex for that.
