We now know one thing that is NOT fueling the Dolphins’ trade rumors around Minkah Fitzpatrick
We now know one reason that’s *not* a part of this trade rumor.
The Miami Dolphins‘ busy week is set to kick off.
The league is descending on Indianapolis for the annual NFL Scouting Combine — an event that is oftentimes less about the prospects running 40-times and more about the business that’s talked after hours. Miami’s leadership, under the direction of new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, has plenty of business to talk. One such player in the spotlight is safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who is reportedly the subject of trade talks with the team. But thanks to Josh Moser of WSVN-Fox and his weekly interview with Fitzpatrick’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, we know what the source of that report isn’t about: discontent.
The Dolphins’ Minkah Fitzpatrick trade rumors aren’t fueled by discontent
“There was a report that said that the Dolphins are shopping Minkah; I was not the source of that report, and neither was Minkah…so right now, the only comment that I have is that Minkah himself has not gone to the Dolphins and said that he wants to be traded. If there were to be a trade that would be based on other factors…but we’ve not gone to the Dolphins and said that he wants to play for a contender or that he would want to leave.”
— Agent Drew Rosenhaus on WSVN-Fox with Josh Moser
If Fitzpatrick’s tenure in Miami does come to a close, it would presumably be a team decision, based on what Rosenhaus shared. Miami has several motivations that could help to fuel that decision, including getting less expense for future cap purposes, maximizing a player they feel they can get a strong price for as they focus towards the future, or as a domino in a bigger string of moves. If a Fitzpatrick trade comes to reality, this week figures to be a big part of that process. — NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe said as much late last week with teams interested in diving into trade talks with the Dolphins this week in Indianapolis. The time for talk is now: although we now know that the reason there are talks surrounding Fitzpatrick isn’t because of him or his camp.
