The Los Angeles Chargers battled through a lot of injuries in 2025 and still found a way to win 11 games. There was a lot to like from the team and reason to be optimistic about their future.

Which makes this upcoming offseason crucial. The team needs to support quarterback Justin Herbert by giving him more weapons and better protecting him to give themselves the best shot at contending.

A new mock draft from A to Z Sports has the Chargers targeting a prospect who dominated his on-field testing portion of the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine.

Chargers land Oregon star TE Kenyon Sadiq in a new 2026 NFL mock draft

“Oronde Gadsden was impressive for the Bolts last season, but Sadiq would balance out the TE room nicely. He’s a better blocker than people give him credit for, and the top interior offensive lineman is already off the board here. Justin Herbert gets another exciting weapon.” – Adam Holt, A to Z Sports Philadelphia

There have been a lot of standout showings at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, one of the biggest, though, has been Oregon Ducks tight end Kenyon Sadiq. Sadiq ended his testing with a 4.39 second 40-yard dash, a 43.5″ vertical, and a 11’1″ broad jump.

He truly is one of the most athletic tight ends we’ve ever seen test at the combine. And somehow, until his blazing 40-yard dash time, he was being overshadowed by Vanderbilt’s all-time numbers in the vertical and the broad.

Testing off the charts athletically doesn’t always translate to being a successful NFL player. This, paired with how good Sadiq’s film was at Oregon this past year, makes you feel pretty confident in his ability to translate to the pro level. Oregon put a lot on Sadiq’s plate this past year, and he found a way to do everything asked of him at a high level.

He’s the consensus top TE for a reason and would be a perfect fit in Jim Harbaugh’s offensive system, and would have a chance to be Justin Herbert’s best friend very early into his career. The Chargers also drafted Oronde Gadsden last year, and I think they could be a lethal duo in LA.

Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq’s college stats

  • 2023: 14 games, 5 receptions, 24 yards, 1 touchdown
  • 2024: 14 games, 24 receptions, 308 yards, 2 touchdowns
  • 2025: 14 games, 51 receptions, 560 yards, 8 touchdowns
