The Athletic recently ranked the top 150 free agents for this offseason.

Defensive back Alontae Taylor is the highest ranked of the former Tennessee players, coming in at No. 16.

“Taylor has loose hips,” notes The Athletic. “He is a fluid athlete with the speed to mirror routes down the field. He has elite acceleration to close gaps when receivers create initial separation at the top of routes.”

Former Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings is ranked at No. 21.

“Jennings is an asset as a blocker in the run game, the best blocking receiver in this free-agent class,” notes The Athletic. “Jennings plays with urgency and edge, and he is explosive in his releases off the line of scrimmage.”

Finally, former Tennessee offensive lineman Cade Mays is at No. 36.

“Mays took over the Panthers’ center job in Week 3 after an injury to Austin Corbett and proved to be a very capable starter,” writes The Athletic. “He is a huge for the position at 6-6, 325 pounds, and he uses that size well in pass protection, creating a wall on the interior with a sturdy, balanced base. He can match up with big nose tackles.”

Interestingly, all three of these former Vols played under Jeremy Pruitt during their time at Tennessee. Jennings played under Butch Jones and Pruitt, while Mays and Taylor played under Pruitt and Josh Heupel.
