The Buffalo Bills haven’t been huge buyers during the first two days of legal tampering, but that doesn’t mean general manager Brandon Beane is shying away from making a splash play.

Jeremy Fowler reported that the Buffalo Bills were one of the team’s interested and who were involved in now Baltimore Ravens pass rusher Trey Hendrickson before the All-Pro agreed to go to Baltimore. According to Fowler, Hendrickson wanted a long-term deal with a contender, and Buffalo fit that mold, but Baltimore put it over the top on Tuesday night.

It’s definitive proof that Beane isn’t scared to make a blockbuster deal this time of year, despite the difficult cap situation the team finds itself in, along with the consensus from Bills Mafia that Beane won’t swing for the fences during the free agency period.

With Hendrickson off the board, Buffalo could look to make a deal for Maxx Crosby

Former Buffalo Bills center and legend Mitch Morse discussed how the one move he would make this offseason is for the Bills to do whatever they can to try and bring in Maxx Crosby, and I have to agree with him. With Hendrickson off the board, Crosby is the best potential option for Buffalo.

This wouldn’t be tied to free agency, though, as Crosby would need to be traded from the Las Vegas Raiders. However, with the signs pointing to Beane not shying away from making a splash, perhaps he wouldn’t be afraid to make a trade to immediately bolster the defense in a big way.

If the Bills did land Crosby, Jim Leonhard would be doing backflips in the parking lot at One Bills Drive. With the deal falling through with Baltimore, it could lower the cost for his services.

Originally, Crosby was traded for two first-round picks, but that number could go down drastically after reports surfaced that he had failed his physical. Other reports are sharing that Baltimore simply had buyer’s remorse and was just looking for a way to back out of the deal. Nevertheless, Crosby is there, and Buffalo should strike, especially after they missed out on Hendrickson.

The Bills proved they were willing to swing for a big name when they pursued Hendrickson, even with the cap situation working against them. Missing out on the Ravens’ new pass rusher by no means is an indication that the search is over for Beane and company.

If anything, it shows that Beane is actively looking for a difference-maker. And if that’s the case, Crosby might be the biggest swing left on the board.
