The Tennessee Vols are set to take on the Auburn Tigers on Thursday afternoon in the SEC Tournament in Nashville.

And according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Vols true freshman forward Nate Ament is expected to play.

Ament hasn’t played since Tennessee’s loss to Alabama on February 28. The future NBA lottery pick is dealing with a high ankle sprain.

Thamel noted that it’s unclear how many minutes Ament will play against the Tigers.

Tennessee should expect a physical game against Auburn

Tennessee should expect a physical game against Auburn on Thursday.

Various Tigers players made it clear on Wednesday after Auburn’s win against Mississippi State that the game against Tennessee is “personal”.

“We lost to them in the regular season,” said Auburn guard Tahaad Pettiford. “We heard some things that was said after the game, so we’re going to see them tomorrow.”

“Some things said in the press conference, you know, some giggles after the game — we [saw] it,” added Pettiford when asked to clarify his comments.

Auburn forward Keyshawn Hall offered a similar sentiment while speaking with some reporters.

“I feel a lot of urgency,” said Hall. “It’s kind of personal this game. I heard after the game they were laughing or something in the interviews and thinking it was a game since they beat us. I mean, they won fair and square. They’re a great team, but it’s gonna be a personal game. So we’re gonna see who’s a tougher team.”

Vols forwards Dwayne Brown and Nate Ament met with the media after Tennessee’s win against Auburn in January. Ament, specifically, had to stifle his laughter a few times after it was mentioned that Tigers head coach Steven Pearl described Brown as an SEC defensive end.

Tennessee and Auburn are scheduled to tip off around 3:00 PM ET on Thursday.
