Typically, the Monday after Selection Sunday is one of celebration for teams that are a part of the field of 68. For the Alabama Crimson Tide, that was the case for at least the early portion of the morning in Tuscaloosa, before news that could change the tournament as we know it came down.

Here is the latest on the arrest of Alabama guard Aden Holloway.

Aden Holloway arrested on felony charges ahead of NCAA tournament

The original report came from Mike Rodack of Bama 24/7. It was reported that Holloway was arrested for a first-degree possession of marijuana charge after a West Alabama task force searched a residence. Then came the news from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who stated that Holloway was also charged with failure to affix a tax stamp.

“Per a Tuscaloosa Police spokesperson on Aden Holloway: “Agents with the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force conducted a search of a residence in the 400 block of 30th Avenue East this morning. The agents recovered more than a pound of marijuana, paraphernalia and cash.”

“Aden Holloway, 21, was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and failure to affix a tax stamp. He was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail Monday morning. Bond was set at $5,000.” – Pete Thamel, ESPN (via X-Twitter)

Where Alabama goes from here

The Crimson Tide plays 13-seeded Hofstra in Tampa on Friday at 2:15 p.m. Central. As of now, there is no word about Holloway’s bond or if the NCAA will intervene in the matter. Holloway was the second league scorer for Alabama this season. The fourth-seeded Crimson Tide is in the Midwest portion of the bracket.
