The Philadelphia Eagles and A.J. Brown saga continues. As free agency winds down a bit, there has been more discussion regarding his future with the team. The Birds are in no rush to trade Brown, but the potential suitors for him are diminishing as time passes by.

Broncos no longer a potential landing spot for A.J. Brown

A blockbuster trade went down on Tuesday morning when the Miami Dolphins traded star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos. With that move, a bit of a domino effect hit the Eagles when it comes to potentially trading A.J. Brown this offseason.

Now, Denver, one of the teams who had reportedly shown some interest in Brown, won’t be in the market for acquiring another top-flight WR. Courtland Sutton and Waddle as a top end duo for their depth chart will suit them nicely.

As for Philly, they’ll have to pivot, but a Brown trade may not occur until after June 1 – no matter who acquires him in that potential deal.

Patriots or bust?

Based on reports, there may only be one team left in the running for a Brown trade this offseason. The New England Patriots have shown interest, but the Eagles haven’t received the deal they’re looking for yet – or possibly any true offer at all from any team.

Brown has a connection with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, and it is no secret that a reunion would make sense. New England wants to build around young star QB Drake Maye, and the acquisition of a veteran wideout like Brown could be the perfect puzzle piece to form their passing attack.

For the Eagles, shipping Brown off to the AFC would probably be their preference, as opposed to a trade within their own conference. For now, though, it feels like a long-term waiting game, and we may not actually see a trade occur for months.

Philadelphia has to focus on moves they can make right now, and they just added veteran WR Marquise Brown on Tuesday. The 2026 NFL Draft will provide them with a plethora of opportunities to get younger and improve the roster’s depth as well.
