Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman’s latest signing in 2026 NFL free agency proves that he always gets his guy

Howie Roseman is known for his aggressive moves in the offseason or at the trade deadline. The Philadelphia Eagles made a quite move on Thursday that proves Roseman doesn’t give up when he has a task in his sights, though.

Eagles add running back they tried to acquire last season

The Eagles signed running back Dameon Pierce to a one-year deal to provide depth at the position for 2026. Pierce is a powerful runner, and his connection to Philly goes deeper than many people may currently believe.

Roseman has had his eye on Pierce for some time, and now, he finally has him on his team.

“According to reports from KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, Pierce was very much a wanted man after he cleared waivers following his release from the Houston Texans. Wilson says that Pierce had contract offers from the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, and Philadelphia Eagles, among other clubs. He ultimately chose to go to Kansas City despite the interest from seven other NFL clubs.

Wilson says that Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman made a “strong push” to sign Pierce. Philly had previously inquired about Pierce in a trade with Houston, but couldn’t reach a deal. Wilson says that Roseman even called Pierce over the weekend in an attempt to get him to sign with the Eagles.” — Charles Goldman

Saquon Barkley will lead the backfield for the Birds, but having depth options to take some of the load off him is important. Tank Bigsby had some nice moments last season, but the Eagles need more consistency out of him.

Pierce immediately adds a factor of competition to the RB room and also improves the offensive outlook for the red zone. He can produce in short yardage situations, and he’s had some explosive outings already in his pro career.

We will see how else Roseman builds the depth of the roster for Philadelphia. With a multitude of draft capital and a potential A.J. Brown trade looming, it will be intriguing to see what decisions he makes in the coming months.
