Former Michigan great Jalen Rose throws major shade at Ohio State following the Buckeyes’ NCAA Tournament loss to TCU
Jalen Rose found a way to poke at Ohio State following the March Madness loss to TCU.
The Ohio State Buckeyes getting to the postseason was a very important step for the program. Ohio State earned a crack at TCU in a No. 8 vs No. 9 matchup. Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, they’re one and done on the losing end of a 66-64 first-round game.
Ohio State trailed 39-24 after the first half and fought back to be up two possessions late against TCU. Ultimately, the Buckeyes’ slow start and inability to get a timely stop were the difference.

Former Michigan star Jalen Rose of course was always going to troll the Buckeyes if given the chance after their one-and-done showing in the postseason. He got the chance after the game via the postgame on CBS.
“It’s only right that they’re the second-best basketball program in their own state,” Rose said postgame. “Why don’t we just call Miami THE Miami University?”
It’s an expected and easy jab at Ohio State from a former rival player. Ohio State’s strong run down the final stretch of the season to make the NCAA Tournament was impressive, but the slow start was disappointing in such a big game for the ordeal.
John Mobley Jr. led the Buckeyes with 15 points while Devin Royal added 14. Bruce Thornton was held to just 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting by TCU. It was a tough way to go out for Ohio State’s all-time leading scorer.
Miami remains in the tournament and needs to beat Tennessee on Friday to get any further than Ohio State did. If they can’t, then Rose’s comment just doesn’t hold much weight considering the schedule the RedHawks have played this season.
