Notre Dame football throws its hat in the ring for a 5-star recruiting target that every elite program seems to want
Notre Dame football is set to make a run at 5-star offensive tackle Oluwasemilore Olubobola.
Notre Dame football kicked off spring practice on Friday, and there is a lot of optimism for what head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish could accomplish heading into the 2026 college football season. Not only is the current team exciting, but so are the recruiting efforts we have seen from this program recently. All eyes are on the 2027 recruiting class, which could be another elite one under Freeman.
Speaking of elite, Notre Dame made an incredibly intriguing offer to elite 2027 Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter’s Prep offensive tackle Oluwasemilore Olubobola. This isn’t some diamond in the rough offer being extended. No, Olubobola is considered to be one of the very best recruits in the 2027 class, and the later timing of this offer is a bit odd.
Whenever Notre Dame gets involved with an offensive line recruit, folks take notice. When it comes to Olubobola, it is uncertain if the Fighting Irish are able to make any sort of impact. There is basically every big-time program in college football already pushing for the New Jersey native heavily. There is going to be high demand for his services.
Oluwasemilore Olubobola’s recruiting background
Olubobola is currently rated as a consensus top-50 overall player by each of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, the talented offensive lineman is rated as a five-star, the No. 20 overall player, the No. 4 offensive tackle, and the No. 1 player from the state of New Jersey. This is considered an elite player by each site, potentially.
If Olubobola’s recruiting rankings don’t impress you enough, his offer list sure will. Some of his top offers so far include the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Texas, Oregon, LSU, Michigan, Florida, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Miami, Auburn, Florida State, Nebraska, South Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Washington, Michigan State, Boston College, Wisconsin, Illinois, Pitt, Vanderbilt, Minnesota, UNC, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Duke, Rutgers, Syracuse, UCLA, UCF, and Wake Forest, among others.
At 6-7 and 280 pounds, Olubobola is an impressive blend of length and movement skills. When you watch his film, it is almost unbelievable that he is so slender at 280 pounds. With a frame to pack on a ton of good weight, this is a player whose upside feels almost unlimited. Olubobola would fit perfectly in an offensive line room that includes the likes of Guerby Lambert and Will Black, but we will see where things go from here.
