The Alabama Crimson Tide has long been a powerhouse in Southeast recruiting. Under Nick Saban, Alabama dominated at keeping in-state talent, but also went to work into Louisiana, and of course, South Florida.

Much of that has remained the same under Kalen DeBoer. He’s also brought in some West Coast talent thanks to his experience at the University of Washington. But in recent classes, the Crimson Tide has started to dip its toe in the Northeast, and the latest commitment proves that.

Alabama signs 2027 TE Oakley Keegan

Tuscaloosa is 925 miles away from Liverpool, New York, which is by far the furthest of all the teams that were interested in signing the 6-7, 240-pound TE. From a scheme standpoint, we have seen the successes of players like Josh Cuevas in recent years.

He was arguably the second most reliable option for Ty Simpson and Alabama’s passing game in 2025. DeBoer has done a tremendous job scheming up big-time vertical threats who align close to the line of scrimmage, and Keegan could be the next in line.

But the bigger news is that Alabama’s recruiting footprint has grown even under DeBoer. We have seen that with legacy additions like the Sabb’s, now with Keegan, and potentially with more to come in 2027 and beyond.
