The Green Bay Packers decided to release Trevon Diggs in January, in what was mostly a financial decision. The team had claimed him off waivers in December, taking over his old deal with the Dallas Cowboys, and it was always unrealistic to expect that Green Bay would keep that same contract beyond 2025.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean that the Packers can’t eventually bring Diggs back to the defense for the upcoming season.

Trevon Diggs and Micah Parsons are working out together

Diggs and Packers star edge defender Micah Parsons are working out together during the offseason — which makes total sense, because they are close friends since their Cowboys days. The one intriguing aspect is that Diggs was wearing a Packers hoodie.

The Packers had Diggs under contract for $15.5 million in 2026, $20.5 million in 2027, and $21 million in 2028. And to lower those numbers, the cornerback would have to agree to a revised deal. It always made more sense for Diggs to aim for the release and check his market as a true free agent.

The Packers cut Diggs two months ago, the new league year started two weeks ago, though, and the former All-Pro defensive player is still available. If the price is right, the Packers could absolutely consider a reunion — and better, that wouldn’t affect the Packers’ compensatory pick formula for 2027.

Diggs played relatively well in his only extended action for the Packers in 2025, a Week 18 game against the Minnesota Vikings where the starters didn’t play. Diggs had 33 snaps, allowing no reception in one target, getting one stop and two tackles. Against the Chicago Bears in the playoffs, he played only one snap.

His connection with Micah Parsons is real, and getting those two together again with more practice time isn’t an absurd possibility.
