Ryan Coleman-Williams may have just ended any speculation about his 2026 season following leaked Alabama practice video
Ryan Williams looks like he’s back to his old ways, even if he’s rebranded.
2025 will go down as one of the weirdest seasons and likely years of Ryan Williams’ life. After bursting onto the scene as a 17-year-old freshman, Williams made the cover of EA Sports College Football 26 and the hopes and expectations for him were sky-high.
But something was off. Whether it was the decision of the Alabama Crimson Tide coaching staff to place him in the slot, or the yips, or just bad hands, Williams could never get going, and he led the FBS in drops. So this offseason, he made some big changes. He added Coleman to his last name, got engaged, and changed his number to 1. Well, so far, those changes seem to be working.

Now there is a lot to break down here, and we will analyze all of it, but the key takeaway is that Coleman-Williams is back on the perimeter of the offense, winning vertically, showing strong hands, and perhaps most importantly, having fun.
People, are going to say ‘oh it’s practice.’ Or that he should do that against a true freshman corner (No. 16 Jordan Edmonds) but to me, it’s seeing the confidence, hearing the passion, watching his enthusiasm as he plays that is most notable to me. Because all of that was lost in 2025.
Now, if we want to talk about the fact that this video getting out in the first place is a problem, I don’t disagree. The other part that will be analyzed is who was throwing the football. Well, it’s hard to tell but if you look clsoely, you can see No. 12 and No. 10 back there.
Alabama’s quarterback competition is in full swing and most of those passes were pinpoint and direct. It’s not going to be an easy decsion for Kalen DeBoer, as maybe OC Ryan Grubb was right when he said Alabama has two of the best quarterbacks in the country.
