The Denver Broncos aren’t expected to make any more “splash” moves this offseason, but there will be plenty of moves made.

There’s speculation that Denver will add another linebacker to the roster this offseason — via either free agency or the 2026 NFL Draft.

CBS Sports named a future Hall of Fame linebacker this week as one potential fit for the Broncos.

CBS Sports names Bobby Wagner as a fit for the Broncos

CBS Sports’ Carter Bahns named the Broncos as one of several teams that would be a good fit for free agent linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Wagner, who turns 36 in June, has totaled 2,000 tackles, 39.5 sacks, and 15 interceptions in his career. He’s a six-time First-Team All-Pro and a 10-time Pro Bowler who has led the NFL in tackles three times during his career. The former Utah State standout is undoubtedly a future Hall of Famer.

“The Denver Broncos can be expected to draft an inside linebacker to fill out what is an aging group, but that doesn’t have to stop them from bringing in another veteran in the interim,” wrote Bahns. “They just released Dre Greenlaw, which opens up a starting opportunity next to Alex Singleton. Justin Strnad can step into that role, but why not raise the group’s ceiling a bit higher by welcoming a perennial All-Pro? This defense is already elite and would remain Super Bowl-caliber if Wagner entered on a one-year deal.”

Wagner would be a fine addition to the Broncos — specifically as a mentor to some of Denver’s younger players. But he’s probably looking for a situation with a guaranteed role. And I’d expect Justin Strnad to be given every opportunity to earn a starting job in Denver.

It would be a wise idea for the Broncos to keep tabs on Wagner this offseason, but it’ll probably be a couple of months before he chooses a team as he waits to see how rosters shake out after the 2026 NFL Draft.
