Klint Kubiak keeps it real regarding what the Raiders still need to ‘work through’ when it comes to Maxx Crosby in 2026
Maxx Crosby isn’t going anywhere, but the Las Vegas Raiders’ coaching staff has some questions that need to be answered about his 2026 snap count.
The Las Vegas Raiders are going into 2026 with star defensive end Maxx Crosby on their team. Not too long ago, it didn’t look that way. However, the Raiders are using the failed trade with the Baltimore Ravens as a sign of positive things to come. They look at this the only way you can when you’re in their position.
“Well, he just saw it got a whole lot better really fast,” Kubiak said regarding the moves they made in free agency on defense when Crosby was in the process of being dealt to the Ravens. “We’re happy to have Maxx [Crosby] back on the team. Maxx is the best player on our defense. He’s going to be a leader on our team and a guy that we’re counting on to go win a lot of games moving forward.”
Raiders still need to work through potential snap counts with Crosby
The Raiders and Maxx Crosby have mended the relationship. It appeared that some bridges had been burned in the beginning due to Pete Carroll and his staff sitting Crosby for the year. But he was dealing with an injury, and it was time to start preparing for surgery and recovery.
Now, this regime will have to find a way to get Crosby to stop playing 100% of the snaps in every game. Yes, it’s valuable, and yes, it’s what makes him, well, him. But at the same time, playing the way he does, all out, every snap of the game when you’re hurt, is just not good. This is something they will have to work through with Crosby, and they know that.
“I think those are things we work through. We’ve got to get him back to being healthy enough for practice. So, I know he’s going to put himself in a great position to do that. There probably will be a conversation about that as we go, but just taking baby steps right now.”
Regardless, the Raiders are a better team right now with Crosby than they would have been without him and with the two extra first-round picks. Would those picks have been better for their future? Maybe. But they are in the business of acquiring good players right now, and Crosby is a player who will help them get closer to a winning football team immediately.

Raiders seem to have an interest in an under-the-radar offensive lineman despite being in rare company with one unique trait
The Las Vegas Raiders don’t have a huge need at offensive tackle, especially when it comes to starter-level talent, but it’s hard not to have interest in Memphis OT Travis Burke, who’s 6’9.
