“I just don’t see him failing” — Tennessee Titans HC Robert Saleh enamored by QB Cam Ward’s work ethic before start of offseason program
Robert Saleh had plenty of job options this offseason. His belief in Cam Ward is what brought him to the Titans.
PHOENIX — New Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh is learning as much as he can about starting quarterback Cam Ward in Saleh’s first three months on the job. Ahead of this week’s voluntary offseason workout program start date of April 7, Saleh’s been impressed with what he’s seen from Ward behind the scenes.
“I just don’t see (Ward) failing”
New head coaches are entitled to conduct an additional voluntary veteran minicamp.
Tennessee under Saleh is one of 10 NFL clubs who will get that head start. Ward is still in a return-to-play protocol after suffering a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder during the first drive of his Week 18 start against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ward did resume throwing last month.
The No. 1 overall pick in 2025, this coming season is massive for Ward and the Titans franchise.
“I try to observe people from afar,” said Saleh at the NFL’s Annual Meeting last week. “Cam’s there every day. Obviously, we can’t talk ball with him. I can watch him and how he interacts with people in the building. I think it’s very impressive for a young man to walk through the building and know everybody by name.
“From the janitors, to the QCs (quality control coaches), to the chefs, to the trainers and addresses them by name. He’s a really, really good man. I just think his head’s on the right way, he’s got the right work ethic, and I just don’t see him failing.”
The Tennessee Titans first voluntary minicamp is scheduled for April 21-23.
