The Oklahoma Sooners might have just struck gold yet again with another underrated recruiting target
The Oklahoma Sooners have had strong success identifying recruits early, and they might have done that again with another 2027 recruit.
The Oklahoma Sooners have done a tremendous job on the recruiting front in recent seasons. Thanks to the addition of general manager Jim Nagy and the front office he built, the Sooners have turned up the heat on their recruiting.
Part of their success has been their ability to stay ahead of the country on underrated recruits. The Sooners have nailed numerous evaluations on recruits who were unranked or lowly rated by recruiting services, only to get massive boosts later on once the eyes of the nation turned their way.
Oklahoma might have done so yet again, this time with 2027 wide receiver Kyron Brown.
Oklahoma Sooners back to the Texas pipeline
The Oklahoma Sooners have had tremendous success recruiting wide receivers from Texas. It’s no surprise they have decided to keep cultivating that pipeline, and they might have found the next hidden star.
Amarillo native Kyron Brown is a developing priority target for the Sooners. Currently, he sits as a three-star and the No. 91 wide receiver in the 2027 class. However, as offers pile on, I expect that to change soon.
The Sooners offered Brown at the end of February as his first offer (per 247Sports). Since then, P4 offers from Syracuse, Wake Forest, Mississippi State, Baylor, and Kansas State have come in, and the pipeline will only grow from there.
Brown visited the Sooners last week, and claimed the Sooners were “definitely” in his top three following the visit.
Turning on the tape reveals an eye-popping recruit. At 6-0 175 pounds, Brown’s explosiveness leaps off the film. His track speed as a Texas state 5A qualifier shows up on film.
The Sooners already have three wide receivers committed in the 2027 class, but there’s plenty of snaps to go around. If Brown does join, he would be alongside Demare Dezeurn, Tra’Von Hall, and Greydon Howell in Oklahoma’s next wave on the perimeter.
Once again, it seems like Nagy and company have beaten the rest of the country to the punch on a recruit. If they can close the deal, they might have added one of the best hidden gems in the nation.
