Travis Hunter fires back at recent update that would have changed the entire outlook of his Jaguars career
Travis Hunter may not agree with the latest report on his future in the NFL. Check out the details regarding the Jaguars potential star.
Reports swirled earlier this weekend regarding former Jacksonville Jaguars first-round pick Travis Hunter. According to Ian Rapoport, the two-way playmaker was set to play mostly cornerback next season – taking some time away from playing wide receiver as well.
“They expect him to be a full-time corner, part-time receiver…,” Rapoport noted.

In a recent social media post, Hunter pushed back on that idea. He did not say that the report was incorrect, but instead, he simply questioned where the insider heard it. That, in itself, places plenty of doubt on how truthful it is.
Rapoport’s report also noted that Jags GM James Gladstone believes that Hunter will take part, but be limited, in the team’s offseason program as he returns from last season’s injury.
Last season, Hunter played 489 snaps as a rookie for the Jaguars, according to Pro Football Reference. 324 of those snaps were on offense, while 162 were on defense. Only three of them were on special teams.
Part of Hunter’s intrigue as a prospect, coming out of college, was his two-way ability and potential stardom as both an offensive and defensive player for any team. The Jaguars clearly planned on a major impact for him on both sides of the ball when they traded up for him.
With that, it will be interesting to see if his offensive role diminishes even more going forward. If that’s the case, it will be tough to agree with the capital that Jacksonville poured into him during the draft process.
