Two former NFL scouts define their expectations for the Miami Dolphins’ early approach in the 2026 NFL Draft under Jon-Eric Sullivan
Former NFL scouts Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks just dove into the Miami Dolphins’ first-round approach to the 2026 NFL Draft under Jon-Eric Sullivan.
The Miami Dolphins‘ draft next week is going to be a big one for the future of the franchise. The 2026 NFL Draft serves not just as an infusion of talent but also a significant statement on who these Dolphins are going to be.
There’s no shortage of combinations of picks that Miami can assemble under general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan. Some of the mock drafts seems to lean a little too far into perceived needs — but at the end of the day Miami is starting from scratch. You can never really say never.
Move The Sticks, featuring former NFL scouts Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks, recently touched on Miami’s outlook and their expectations for the early picks under Sullivan.
Bucky Brooks, Daniel Jeremiah state their expectations for Miami Dolphins’ early picks

“I would say that the thing you can count on the Dolphins doing (is drafting) traits, where they have the physical tools, and production. Not as much projection when it comes to it. I think they’re going to invest in a really good football player that they can trust. That’s why I think if (LSU cornerback) Mansoor Delane is there, they trust him. It’s a done deal. Outside of that, it’s just interesting because I know they need pass catchers, they need guys that can go. At 30, to me the sweet spot would be them taking (Indiana wide receiver) Omar Cooper Jr. because I think he kind of lines up with how I have them graded and where he would fit and the role he could fit in terms of being the solid guy.”

Former NFL Scout on 'Move The Sticks' discussing the Miami Dolphins' early draft strategy
The Miami Dolphins have been tied to every kind of prospect under the sun. They’ve been tied to high floor players like Delane. The Dolphins have also been tied to raw pass rushers like Keldric Faulk.
First and foremost, credit to the Miami Dolphins for not telegraphing their intentions in this year’s event. The Jon-Eric Sullivan drafting philosophy does, indeed, favor drafting defensive prospects and trench players early, which are both things that Miami needs. A wide receiver at 30, as Brooks indicates, would be a bit of a surprise. With that said, I am a fan of Cooper Jr.’s game. Additionally, I’d agree with Brooks that his fit with Miami is obvious.
The most telling quote of the whole segment came from Jeremiah. “That first pick, to me, I think they want to put that one right down the middle of the fairway.” Whatever that looks like? Great. The Miami Dolphins certainly have no shortage of options.
