Commanders are doing final check on a controversial NFL Draft prospect, and he should be off the table at No. 7 overall

The Washington Commanders are finishing their top-30 visits by doing one last check on a top NFL Draft prospect who has major red flags, and shouldn’t be an option unless they trade back and take him.

The Washington Commanders are heading into a critical 2026 NFL Draft, and they need to make the most of their six picks to improve the roster.

They can’t afford to miss on prospects as they have in the past, so they’ve been doing their research over the last few months. After meeting with players at the NFL Scouting Combine and Pro Days, they’ve invited a select few to their facilities for a top-30 visit.

The Washington Commanders’ latest top-30 visit is with a prospect who has major injury concerns and could turn into a complete bust.

The Washington Commanders are hosting WR Jordyn Tyson on a top-30 visit

The Commanders are still in the market for a top WR after missing in free agency, and their best bet is in the NFL Draft. Of course, they could trade for a WR as well, but they lack draft capital. The last thing they can do is pick the wrong WR in a strong draft, especially if it’s in the first round.

There are serious injury concerns surrounding WR Jordyn Tyson, and the Washington Commanders are bringing him in for a final visit.

There’s a strong argument that Tyson is the top WR in the 2026 NFL Draft, but his lingering injuries are a red flag for teams. Tyson has already missed the entire draft process with his hamstring injury, which has been ongoing for four months now.

He didn’t participate in the scouting combine or Arizona State’s Pro Day, but he’s doing a positional workout on Friday for teams. This could be the last impression he makes on the Washington Commanders before they have to decide whether to draft him or not.

The Commanders need to steer clear of WR Jordyn Tyson

After tearing his ACL, MCL, and PCL in 2022, he returned in 2024 and looked as explosive as ever. Then, he broke his clavicle in 2024 and dealt with a lingering hamstring issue in 2025. Hamstring injuries can be tricky, as we see now with Tyson missing so much time, and his injuries need to be heavily considered before drafting him.

Taking Tyson at No. 7 overall shouldn’t be an option at this point, but trading back for a haul and taking him with extra picks can help protect the potential miss if his injury history continues. WR Carnell Tate is the clear WR1 right now for most teams, and Tyson could even fall into the late teens if teams continue to pass on him.
