Jon Sumrall is making waves with multiple five-star recruits, and the Florida Gators are working to land another on the offensive line
Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall is taking recruiting to the next level, and making landing five-stars back to the norm.
The Florida Gators are making waves in recruiting, and the offensive line has been a major focus.
Head coach Jon Sumrall is on a massive heater, having landed four commitments over the past 10 days, starting with five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller. Offensive line coach Phil Trautwein has been working hard to bring in more top-flight recruits over the next seven months.
Florida Gators continue to pursue five-star recruits
One recruit the Gators have made a major priority is five-star offensive tackle Kennedy Brown. He ranks as the 10th overall recruit and second-ranked offensive tackle in the country per the Rivals’ Industry Ranking. He visited the Gators on March 27th, which was his last visit. They have a long way to go in order to get to the top of Brown’s list, as they are tied for fifth in the Rivals’ Recruiting Prediction Machine at 4.5%.
Gators Online’s Corey Bender highlighted multiple five-star recruits that Florida is targeting, and said visit made an impact.
The message from Florida has been consistent. They’ve made Brown a priority and have focused heavily on relationships and development, which clearly resonated during his visit. The staff also helped itself by getting him around the entire building, allowing him to see who would be coaching him daily and that comfort level has carried over since the trip.

Getting Brown in the building made a major impact in his recruitment. If they can continue building upon that relationship, it could catapult their top-10 class as things currently sit to a level they haven’t seen in years.
His scouting report from Rivals’ Charles Power is that of a player who could be an NFL player in five years.
Explosive and long-armed offensive tackle prospect with rare reach, heavy hands, and the athletic ability to dominate both phases up front. Measured around 6-foot-3, 280 pounds prior to his junior season with a wingspan over 7 feet and 11-inch hands. Tested as a good athlete in the combine setting. Worked at right tackle as a sophomore before moving to left tackle as a junior. Shows excellent striking power, using his length and punch to stun defensive linemen at the point of attack. Moves easily to the second level and looks to finish blocks with effort and physicality. Shorter than the typical top tackle prospect but makes up for it with elite reach and functional strength. Had some lapses in pass protection on junior film after transitioning to the left side, but the athletic traits and power profile remain evident. Projects as one of the top offensive line prospects in the 2027 cycle.
