Howie Roseman may work his magic and land the Eagles a potential Pro Bowler in round two of 2026 NFL Draft

The Philadelphia Eagles general manager is already reportedly getting aggressive on the trade market. Could he move up to draft a projected first-round prospect in the second round after the latest news on his stock?

Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman is no stranger to drafting prospects who slip farther down the draft board than people expect.

With some recent news on a polarizing player at a potential position of need, he may have the chance for a big swing in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft this week.

Jermod McCoy may be available in second round for a team to trade up for

Tennessee Vols cornerback Jermod McCoy has been a projected first-round pick since last year’s draft concluded. Mock drafts (that were way too early) last summer had him go in the top ten.

After not playing for the Vols in 2025 due to injury, there is a feeling that he may go later than many people are even expecting right now. According to Albert Breer, McCoy could slide out of the first round. If that is the case, the Eagles should pounce on a trade up opportunity in the second round to land him.

If there’s one player who might tumble, I think it’s Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy. And I feel terrible for him, because this one is beyond his control—and I said a week ago I think he has a chance to go in the top 10. Since then, every team I’ve talked to—every last one of them—has said that the knee he tore up in January 2025 remains a major concern.

Without getting into all the ins and outs of the medicals, the question isn’t whether he’ll be ready to go when he joins his new team next week. It’s more centered on his longevity, making his case similar to—maybe a little worse than—Will Johnson’s last year.” — Albert Breer, SI.com

Do the Eagles need him?

While starting outside cornerback isn’t atop the defensive roster needs for Philly, keep in mind that Riq Woolen is only under contract for one year as of now. The Eagles did bot tie themselves to him for the long-term during free agency.

If McCoy needs time to get up to full speed physically and preparation-wise, sitting a bit in year one and then starting a an NFL sophomore who has a ton of potential makes sense. The Eagles could give him that chance.

“Elite 2024 tape as press-man cornerback with 77-inch wingspan. Four INTs and uncanny spatial awareness. Missed all of 2025 with injury; major health question for NFL teams evaluating him now.” — A to Z Sports

If the scenario falls in Roseman’s lap where McCoy makes it into the early 40s, the Eagles could certainly try to move up using some combination of the following picks:

  • Round 3, No. 68
  • Round 3, No. 98
  • Round 4, No. 114
  • Round 4, No. 137
