Sean Mannion’s training camp message points to Eagles’ offense doubling down on what makes it so difficult to stop
The tush push isn’t going anywhere despite Mannion running a completely different offensive philosophy.
Sean Mannion spoke to the media about the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense, and the new offensive coordinator made it clear that the tush push will remain a part of the 2026 playbook. The Eagles’ signature play is not going anywhere, and Mannion said he likes to harp on what has had success and what works well based on the personnel. I really like that approach.

The best thing to come out of Mannion’s availability might have been his philosophy on preparation. He says, “you want to treat practice as if it was a game.” He does not subscribe to the idea that you should practice differently than you play. That is the mentality this offense needs.
I think Mannion is really elevating this Eagles’ offense. I think he is pushing them to another level and demanding greatness, because this offense has a lot of talented personnel, guys who should be exceeding expectations. This should be a top 5 to 10 offense in the NFL. You can argue that with A.J. Brown gone, they’re not going to be as potent, but Philadelphia has so many weapons. This team has so many ways they can attack you.
So I kind of like this tough mindset, this hold-you-to-a-higher-standard-even-in-practice approach. That’s what Vic Fangio does on the defensive side. I know he’s old school, but you see the way those players respect Vic anytime he talks or sends a message. They’re very responsive to it. I’m hoping we see that same dynamic from Mannion on offense. It seems like he really gets along with some of the Eagles’ offensive players, and that needs to continue as they build toward the regular season.
If Mannion can bring that Fangio-like accountability to the other side of the ball, this Eagles team could be scary good. The talent is there, the scheme sounds refreshing, and the standard is being set every single day in practice. So far, Mannion is saying all the right things.
